BMW i3 makes its World PremiereBMW recently debuted the production version of its innovative electric vehicle, the BMW i3, simultaneously in New York, London and Beijing. The BMW i3 will be released in Germany and other European markets in November 2013. The market launch of the BMW i3 in USA, China, Japan and several other markets will take place in the first half of 2014. The base price for the BMW i3 has been set at 34,950 Euros (Rs 27.56 lakh) in Germany. If customers opt to purchase the Range Extender as an extra, the price in Germany will amount to 39,450 Euros (Rs 31.10 lakh)

The BMW i3 sprints from 0 to 60 km/h in 3.7 seconds and from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.2 seconds. Its top speed is limited to 150 km/h for efficiency reasons.

Over a period of three years, the maintenance and running costs for a BMW i3 are about 40% lower than those of a highly-economical 320dA registered in Germany. In other countries, figures may even be lower, depending on the level of subsidies available for electric vehicles.

Temperatures in parts of China have hit record highs, prompting an emergency level-two nationwide heat alert for the first time.

In Shanghai, at least 10 people have died from heatstroke, as the city experiences its hottest July in 140 years, reports say.

Local journalists have demonstrated the heat by frying meat on the pavement.

The national heat alert covers nine provinces, including Anhui, Jiangsu, Hunan, Hubei, Shanghai and Chongqing.

According to figures from the Shanghai Meteorological bureau, Shanghai has seen 24 days with temperatures at or above 35C in July.

"It should be a new record since Shanghai had its own weather recording," said chief service officer Wu Rui.

"Also, in July of this year Shanghai reached 40.6 degrees Celsius, its highest ever temperature. So the highest temperature in July also broke a record."

More than 10 people in Shanghai have died after suffering from heatstroke, state-run news agency Xinhua said, citing health officials.

In a TV report, journalists from Shanghai TV said they successfully fried a pork chop on a marble slab outdoors in just 10 minutes.

The practice appears to have become popular, with photos of slices of bacon and fish being barbecued outdoors by the heat appearing online.

'Impossible'

The China Meteorological Administration issued the level two emergency heat alert on Tuesday.

"Anhui, Jiangsu, Hunan, Hubei, Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Fujian, Chongqing and Shanghai meteorological bureaus should enter into emergency response on the basis of actual weather conditions," it said on its website.

It added that weather forecasts suggested that some areas south of the Yangtze river, including Chongqing, could experience temperatures of over 35C until 8 August.

It urged members of the public to avoid outdoor activities and to take protective measures against the heat.

"It's impossible for people to live without an air-conditioner," a resident was quoted by Reuters news agency as saying.

"Just going outside in this kind of temperate can roast people."
Facebook shares have risen above the $38 flotation level for the first time since they began trading in 2012.

The world's largest social networking site saw its price rise 1.2% to $38.08 in early morning trading, giving the company a market valuation of $92bn,

Facebook
The company's shares have been boosted since the company reported stronger-than-expected earnings on 24 July.

Investors have been encouraged by the fast growth of Facebook's mobile advertising revenue.

It now derives 41% of its total ad revenue from mobile.

Facebook's flotation in May 2012 got off to a disastrous start as shareholders took fright over the company's apparent lack of mobile strategy and slowing revenue growth.

Some accused founder Mark Zuckerberg of overhyping the company's growth forecasts.

Just three months after the flotation, the share price had collapsed to about $18, wiping $48bn off the company's stock market value.

But the company's recent forecast-beating results have helped restore investor confidence.

Katrina Kaif's Reaction On The Leaked Holiday Pictures-Ranbir Katrina Spain Holiday

Katrina Kaif is apparently fine that her holiday pictures with Ranbir Kapoor have surfaced.

According to an online publication, the Hollywood actress was heard telling a pal that the pictures have hit two birds with one stone.

The first reason being that Salman Khan is no longer in her life and she is now in love with Kapoor.

The second reason is that the rumours of the Kapoor getting close with his former girlfriend Deepika Padukone, during the success party of their flick 'Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani' are nothing but false.

Though the 30-year-old brunette beauty is unhappy about with the way the pictures were clicked, as the couple was not aware that they were being photographed.
Stem cells obtained from urine could one day allow humans to regrow lost teeth, scientists claim.

Chinese scientists used stem cells from urine to create tiny 'tooth buds' that when transplanted into mice grew into tooth-like structures.

Stem cells - cells which can grow into any type of tissue - are popular among researchers looking for ways to grow new teeth to replace those lost with age and poor dental hygiene.

The group at the Guangzhou Institutes of Biomedicine and Health used urine as the starting point, 'BBC News' reported.

Cells which are normally passed from the body, such as those from the lining of the body's waterworks, are harvested in the laboratory. These collected cells are then coaxed into becoming stem cells.

In the study, a mix of these cells and other material from a mouse was implanted into the animals. The researchers said that after three weeks the bundle of cells started to resemble a tooth: "The tooth-like structure contained dental pulp, dentin, enamel space and enamel organ." However, the "teeth" were not as hard as natural teeth.

The research is not immediately going to lead to new options for the dentist, but researchers said it could lead to further studies towards "the final dream of total regeneration of human teeth for clinical therapy".

However, experts caution the goal faces many challenges. Professor Chris Mason, a stem cell scientist at University College London, said urine was a poor starting point.

"It is probably one of the worst sources, there are very few cells in the first place and the efficiency of turning them into stem cells is very low. You just wouldn't do it in this way," he said.

He also warned that the risk of contamination, such as through bacteria, was much higher than with other sources of cells. The study was published in Cell Regeneration Journal.

A tropical storm threatening Hawaii with wind and rain will weaken into a tropical depression within 24 hours, but forecasters on Monday were still warning residents and tourists to brace for possible flooding, wind gusts, mudslides and big waves.

Tropical Storm Flossie takes aim at Hawaii.
Earlier, local television stations extended morning news, pre-empting syndicated daytime shows to cover the storm’s approach.
But Tropical Storm Flossie faded through the morning, thanks to winds that broke the layers of the storm apart, said Tom Evans, acting director of the Central Pacific Hurricane Center.
Forecasters said the storm will now bring rain of up to 6 inches on parts of the Big Island and up to 2 inches on other islands. The storm’s 40 mph winds will continue to weaken, Evans said.

Residents and government officials began preparing on Sunday for the storm’s arrival. College campuses and courts were closed on Monday on the Big Island, and the Red Cross was gathering volunteers to staff 24 shelters statewide.
The U.S. Coast Guard closed three ports—two on the Big Island where the storm was expected first and a third port on Maui. Airports statewide were open Monday but many flights were being canceled.

Trails and campgrounds also were closed on the Big Island, where state officials warned people to avoid forest areas until Flossie clears.
Hawaii Gov. Neil Abercrombie has signed an emergency proclamation that allows the state to use its disaster fund to pay for staff overtime, supplies and other resources. The proclamation also gives state officials the option to call Hawaii National Guard members to duty.
Officials warned people to cancel beach trips, finish necessary storm preparations and leave their homes if asked by local officials.

"I woke up to blue skies. It was just a beautiful day out," Ian Shortridge, 22, of Kealakekua, on the west side of the Big Island, said Monday. "It hasn’t rained all morning. We are waiting for the rain."

Shortridge said he saw McDonald’s employees boarding up windows on Sunday. Store shelves were running low of essentials like bottled water and toilet paper, he said.

The center of the storm was about 90 miles northeast of Hilo on the Big Island on Monday morning.

Evans said tropical storm warnings will remain in effect for all of Hawaii’s islands until Flossie is classified as a depression rather than a storm.
The warnings mean the storm represents a threat to life and property.

Heavy rains on Monday lashed the national capital, causing huge traffic jams due to waterlogging as vehicles had to wade through flooded roads.

The day began on a sultry note but by evening, heavy downpours drenched most parts of the city.

The humidity level remained between 65 per cent and 83 per cent.

The day temperatures settled at 36 degrees Celsius, two points above normal, while the minimum temperature settled at 28.8 degrees Celsius, which is also two notches above normal, Met officials said.

Traffic snarls were noticed at several places, including Kashmere Gate, Munirka, Dwarka, Dhaula Kuan, Sarai Kale Khan, Rajghat, Kalindi Kunj, Barapulla and Moolchand.

The weatherman has predicted generally cloudy sky with rain and thundershowers in some areas on Tuesday, while the maximum and minimum temperatures would remain at 36 degrees Celsius and 28 degrees Celsius respectively.

That's the case with Coca-Cola India whose growth in the critical April-June quarter came crashing down from 20% a year ago. It was the worst performance of the Indian unit of the world's largest beverage maker in five years.

Faced with slowdown threat, Coca-Cola & Pepsico experiment with strategies to push volumes growthArch rival PepsiCo has fared better than Coke but not better than its own performance in the previous year's corresponding period. Its volumes grew 11% in March-May but it compares badly with the strong double-digit growth of a year ago. And to think that the numbers for the most crucial month of the year — June — aren't yet out.

A top official closely involved with PepsiCo operations said the company's growth in June has been soft as well, which may spoil the growth numbers for the next quarter.

New Game Plan

The India units of Coca-Cola and PepsiCo are critical bastions of growth for their American parents, but are now confronted with the threat of a slowdown in volumes. Executives of both companies have been forced to recast their strategy through a combination of price cuts, differential pricing (exactly the same product being sold at different prices in different cities), trade discounts, restructuring of distribution networks and stepping up capacities at bottling plants.

Starting this month, all Coca-Cola's beverages in 200 ml bottles will be sold at a flat Rs 10, down from Rs 11-12, a top trade official told ET Magazine. "It's heavy discounting and at the cost of profitability. The company is pushing volumes almost as if in panic," he says. Coca-Cola will support the move with aggressive advertising. It is not hard to see why. Early and prolonged rains have softened demand. Add to that inflation and the cola story in the recent past has gone haywire, putting pressure on executives to deliver and fast.

Faced with slowdown threat, Coca-Cola & Pepsico experiment with strategies to push volumes growth A veteran bottler said this quarter, which contributes 40% of the industry's annual sales, sets growth momentum for the rest of the year. "The industry hasn't seen such a bad June in years — this is the biggest month for the Rs 14,000-crore aerated drinks industry," he says.

Gautham Mukkavilli, CEO at PepsiCo India (beverages), says a distribution step-up, especially for its newer products — Pepsi Atom, Tropicana Coconut blends and Nimbooz Masala Soda — is a key focus area. "We have had strong volume growth in March-May on the back of our IPL activation. While the early monsoon has resulted in softening of demand, we remain focused on developing the category by concentrating on increasing distribution of our products," he says.

PepsiCo is also experimenting with different pack sizes in general grocery stores and consumer promotions (price-offs or bundling of products at discounts) in modern trade to drive consumption. "There's an urgency to drive volumes... Both firms are pushing different prices in different markets," said a trade insider.

Though the big impact came from rains, Atul Singh, deputy president at Coca-Cola's Pacific group, said in an interview last week that the slowing consumer sentiment is as much a concern for his company."I can't control the GDP. But I can control the availability of products, equipment, training people, retailers," he said.

Raining Discounts

For the summer, Coca-Cola has been banking on pushing sales by selling at a discount to large retailers and slashing prices of brand Coke in 200-ml bottles to Rs 8. The company will also sell in different sizes. Currently, Coca-Cola is testing tetrapacks of 100 ml for juices at entry-level prices of Rs 6.

Pilgrims staked out spots on the sand of Copacabana beach for an all-night slumber party ahead of the final Mass of Pope Francis' stay in Brazil, a trip that has drawn rapturous crowds of up to 3 million faithful.

Francis headed into the final hours of his first international trip riding a remarkable wave of popularity: By the time his open-sided car reached the stage for the vigil service on Saturday night, the back seat was piled high with soccer jerseys, flags and flowers tossed to him by adoring pilgrims lining the beachfront route.

"I'm trembling, look how good you can see him!" gushed Fiorella Dias, a 16-year-old Brazilian who jumped for joy as she reviewed the video she shot as the pope passed by. "I have got to call my mother!"

The vigil drew a reported 3 million flag-waving, rosary-toting faithful, who overflowed Copacabana beach's 4 kilometers (2.5 miles) of white sand on the final evening of World Youth Day. The attendance figure, given by local media citing the mayor's office, is higher than the 1 million at the last World Youth Day vigil in Madrid in 2011, and far more than the 650,000 at Toronto's 2002 vigil.

Many of those watching the vigil had tears in their eyes as they listened to Francis' call for them to build up their church like his namesake, St. Francis of Assisi, was called to do.

"Jesus offers us something bigger than the World Cup!" Francis said, drawing cheers from the crowd in this soccer-mad nation.

On the beach, pilgrims staked out their spots on the sand, lounged and snacked, preparing for the all-night slumber party ahead of Sunday's Mass. Francis leaves Brazil on Sunday evening.

"At church, it can be a bit tedious, but here it's amazing," marveled Anna Samson, a 21-year-old college senior from Long Beach, California.

"Seeing the pope, seeing the Stations of the Cross acted out live, seeing all these young people from all over," she said as she and two friends plied the beach in search of a place to spread their sleeping bags. "It's overwhelming, just amazing."

Rio's mayor has estimated that as many as 3 million people might turn out for Sunday's Mass.

Saturday night's vigil capped a busy day for the pope in which he drove home a message he has emphasized throughout the week in speeches, homilies and off-the-cuff remarks: the need for Catholics, lay and religious, to shake up the status quo, get out of their stuffy sacristies and reach the faithful on the margins of society or risk losing them to rival churches.

In the longest and most important speech of his four-month pontificate, Francis took a direct swipe at the "intellectual" message of the church that so characterized the pontificate of his predecessor, Benedict XVI. Speaking to Brazil's bishops, he said ordinary Catholics simply don't understand such lofty ideas and need to hear the simpler message of love, forgiveness and mercy that is at the core of the Catholic faith.

"At times we lose people because they don't understand what we are saying, because we have forgotten the language of simplicity and import an intellectualism foreign to our people," he said. "Without the grammar of simplicity, the church loses the very conditions which make it possible to fish for God in the deep waters of his mystery."

In a speech outlining the kind of church he wants, Francis asked bishops to reflect on why hundreds of thousands of Catholics have left the church for Protestant and Pentecostal congregations that have grown exponentially in recent decades in Brazil, particularly in its slums or favelas, where their charismatic message and nuts-and-bolts advice is welcome by the poor.

According to census data, the number of Catholics in Brazil dipped from 125 million in 2000 to 123 million in 2010, with the church's share of the total population dropping from 74 percent to 65 percent. During the same time period, the number of evangelical Protestants and Pentecostals skyrocketed from 26 million to 42 million, increasing from 15 percent to 22 percent of the population in 2010.

Francis offered a breathtakingly blunt list of explanations for the "exodus."

"Perhaps the church appeared too weak, perhaps too distant from their needs, perhaps too poor to respond to their concerns, perhaps too cold, perhaps too caught up with itself, perhaps a prisoner of its own rigid formulas," he said. "Perhaps the world seems to have made the church a relic of the past, unfit for new questions. Perhaps the church could speak to people in their infancy but not to those come of age."

Francis asked if the church today can still "warm the hearts" of its faithful with priests who take time to listen to their problems and remain close to them.

"We need a church capable of rediscovering the maternal womb of mercy," he said. "Without mercy, we have little chance nowadays of becoming part of a world of `wounded' persons in need of understanding, forgiveness and love."

The Argentine pope began Saturday with a Mass in Rio's beehive-like modern cathedral where he exhorted 1,000 bishops from around the world to go out and find the faithful, a more diplomatic expression of the direct, off-the-cuff instructions he delivered to young Argentine pilgrims on Thursday. In those remarks, he urged the youngsters to make a "mess" in their dioceses and shake things up, even at the expense of confrontation with their bishops and priests.

"We cannot keep ourselves shut up in parishes, in our communities when so many people are waiting for the Gospel!" Francis said in his homily Saturday.

Francis' target audience is the poor and the marginalized _ the people that history's first pope from Latin America has highlighted on this first trip of his pontificate. He has visited one of Rio's most violent slum areas, met with juvenile offenders and drug addicts.

He carried that message to a meeting with Brazil's political, economic and intellectual elite, urging them to look out for the poorest and use their leadership positions to work for the common good. He also called for greater dialogue between generations, religions and peoples during the speech at Rio's grand municipal theater.

Stawberry
milkshake is a sweet, cold beverage which is usually made from milkice cream or iced milk, and flavorings or sweeteners such as fruit syrup orchocolate sauce. Outside the United States, the drink is sometimes called a thickshake or a thick milkshake or in New England, a frappe, to differentiate it from other less-viscous forms of flavored milk.
Full-service restaurants, soda fountains, and diners usually prepare and mix the shake "by hand" from scoops of ice cream and milk in a blender or drink mixer using a stainless steel cup. Many fast food outlets do not make shakes by hand with ice cream. Instead, they make shakes in automatic milkshake machines which freeze and serve a premade milkshake mixture consisting of milk, a sweetened flavoring agent, and a thickening agent. However, some fast food outlets still follow the traditional method, and some serve milkshakes which are prepared by blending soft-serve ice cream (or ice milk) with flavoring or syrups. A milkshake can also be made by adding powder into fresh milk, and stirring the powder into the milk. Milkshakes made in this way can come in a variety of flavors, including chocolate, strawberry and banana.

There are things every college girl should own: a comfy pair of sweatpants, a hoodie for super hung-over mornings, the perfect shirt to wear to the bar and a good ole’ pair of skinny jeans.

Search Firm Joins Apple and Microsoft in Race to Bring Web to TV

Google Inc. on Wednesday made another attempt to embed itself into living rooms, after several false starts.

The search giant unveiled a $35 device to wirelessly connect TVs to mobile devices so that people can view and listen to Web content on their biggest screens.

Google joins Apple Inc., Microsoft Corp. and others in the race to bring more Web content to the TV screen, which has remained a big focal point of home entertainment even as tablet computers and smartphones have commanded a greater share of consumers' time.

The new, two-inch Google
Chromecast device costs $35.
Google's new two-inch TV device, called Chromecast, looks like a thumb drive, plugs into the HDMI port of a TV and can be controlled by a person's mobile device or laptop using a wireless Internet connection.

The device, which is compatible with mobile devices powered by Google's Android software as well as Apple iPhones and iPads, went on sale Wednesday at BestBuy.com, Amazon.com AMZN +0.21% and the Google Play online store.

Chromecast's price tag is lower than that of Apple TV, a $99 device whose "AirPlay" technology is similar to Chromecast's but which also has more features and apps that run directly on it. Microsoft's Xbox 360 videogame console, which starts at $199, also has similar technology, called "SmartGlass," that can be controlled by mobile devices powered by Apple, Android and Microsoft software.

Apple sold 13 million Apple TV units since its launch in 2007, with about half sold in the past year, the company said in May.

Chromecast will allow people to select YouTube video content using their Web-connected tablet, for instance, and have it play on their television. If Google gains a foothold in helping more Web content appear on TV screens, that could be a boon to Google's core advertising business, as no other company sells more online search, graphical and video ads across millions of websites and apps.

The device works with Android smartphones, Chrome-powered laptops and Apple's iPad and iPhone. "We have a multiplatform approach…and we go where the users are," said Google's chief of Chrome and Android, Sundar Pichai. He added that even at the $35 price, Google and its retail partners will make a profit on sales.

Chromecast is the latest example of Google flexing its hardware muscle. Mr. Pichai said the company worked with a hardware maker in Taiwan to build the device, which he said he hopes will be embedded within new TVs and other devices in the future. Earlier this year Google introduced a ChromeOS-based laptop designed and manufactured with an undisclosed Asian partner, and in 2014 it will release its Google Glass wearable-computing device.

Chromecast is further evidence that living rooms are a growing battleground among consumer tech companies. Amazon.com is working on a set-top box for streaming video and Apple too is developing television technology, people familiar with the companies' plans have said.

Google's past TV-related efforts have had some challenges. The company in 2010 released Google TV, which is software embedded in some TVs as well as separate devices that connect to TVs, but it failed to gain much traction. Google's chief of Chrome and Android Sundar Pichai said new Google TV devices, which help people search and watch both cable TV and Web connect, will be released in the future.

Google's Android division also has been working on developing a videogame console, people familiar with the matter have said.

Google on Wednesday also unveiled a new version of its Nexus 7 tablet computer, boasting features like virtual surround sound and a faster processor, as it looks to boost Android's lead over Apple's iPad in terms of market share.

The Nexus tablet is designed in partnership with Asustek Computer Inc. 2357.TW +0.18% and powered by an updated version of Android, which also is the No. 1 software for smartphones.

The Mountain View, Calif., company is working to fend off Apple as well as Amazon.com's Kindle Fire tablets. Mr. Pichai said Android tablets now account for nearly half of all tablet computers sold world-wide, and that more than 70 million Android tablets had been activated to date, up from around 15 million a year ago.

The new tablet, which goes on sale at Best Buy, BBY +0.61% Wal-Mart Inc. WMT -0.40% and other retailers July 30, costs $229 with 16 gigabytes of storage and $269 for 32 gigabytes. That compares with $329 for the 16-gigabyte iPad Mini, an 8-inch tablet, and $429 for the 32-gigabyte version.

The device will soon be available in major markets in Europe and Asia, Google said.
In a monumental case of poor planning, National Tequila day falls today, July 24, smack-dab in the middle of the work week. So while we might normally encourage you to go enjoy the rich, stinging taste of tequila to honor everyone’s favorite agave-based intoxicant, for the benefit of the entire nation we’re going to ask you to hold off until Friday. Think about it. Do you really think you can fit in tequila shots or margaritas, a slew of questionable karaoke choices at a the cantina, 48 inappropriate texts to your ex and cleaning all the guacamole vomit out of your hair, all before 6 tomorrow morning?  No way, hombre. Tequila requires a weekend

How to Install the iOS 7 Beta on the iPhone 5

Installing the iOS 7 beta on the iPhone 5 and iPhone 4S is pretty easy with direction. Make sure you receive confirmation that the UDID is registered otherwise this will fail. This could take some time, especially if you choose to restore from backup, so budget accordingly.
1. Register the device UDID with IMZDL
2. Make sure you are on the latest version of iTunes.
3. Connect the iPhone to the computer and perform a backup with iTunes.
4. Download the iOS 7 Beta for your iPhone model. IMZDL offers direct iOS 7 beta downloads and torrents.
6. Open iTunes and upgrade to the iOS 7 Beta by choosing Restore.
  • Be sure to hold alt/option on Mac when you click Restore.
  • On Windows, hold Shift when you click Restore.
7. Find the .ipsw file you downloaded and select it.
8. Complete the installation and then restore from backup if you desire.
This will install the iOS 7 beta on the iPhone 5, iPhone 4S or iPhone 4. An iOS 7 beta for iPad and iPAd mini will come later.

What Devices Work with iOS 7?

Not every Apple device works with iOS 7, and the list that works with the initial iOS 7 beta is especially small.
  • iPhone 5
  • iPhone 4S
  • iPhone 4
iOS 7 beta 1, as it stands today does not work on the iPad, but a version should come to the iPad soon and work on the following devices.

  • iPad 2
  • iPad 3
  • iPad 4
  • iPad mini
Stay tuned for new iOS 7 beta for iPad information.

What to Know Before Installing the iOS 7 Beta

There is no official way to downgrade from iOS 7 to iOS 6, so keep that in mind before upgrading to the iOS 7 beta. There may be workarounds to this, but don’t count on them.
Apple does not offer an over the air iOS 7 beta download, so you will need to plug in. Also, the betas will expire, which means you will need to update regularly. Don’t use this if you will be away from the internet for extended periods as it could leave you stranded. Once the iOS 7 beta expires the device is unusable.
Keep in mind that this is a beta for developers and it may not always work like your iPhone does right now. Some apps and services may not work on the iPhone during the beta. If you try the iOS 7 beta don’t leave negative app reviews if things don’t run smoothly.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have received their first visitors after the birth of their son - the duchess's parents, Carole and Michael Middleton.
Leaving the hospital after more than an hour, Mrs Middleton told reporters the baby was "absolutely beautiful".
It is thought the new family will leave this evening or early on Wednesday.
Gun salutes in Green Park and the Tower of London and the ringing of bells at Westminster Abbey have marked the birth of the third in line to the throne.
Mrs Middleton mother and baby were "both doing really well - we are so thrilled".
She added her first cuddle with her new grandson had been "amazing".
Earlier the King's Troop Royal Horse Artillery fired a 41-gun salute in Green Park at 14:00 BST, after riding past Buckingham Palace.
At the same time, the Honourable Artillery Company - the City of London's army reserve regiment - fired a 62-gun salute from Gun Wharf at the Tower of London.
Meanwhile, the church bells of Westminster Abbey, where William and Catherine were married in April 2011, rung for three hours.
The Middletons arrived at private Lindo Wing of St Mary's Hospital, in Paddington, west London, by taxi shortly after 15:00 BST.
They were greeted by its lead clinician, Jonathan Ramsay, and paused briefly on the steps for the mass of photographers gathered outside before going inside.
Carole and Michael Middleton were the first family visitors at the hospital since the birth
Prince William was at the hospital for the birth at 16:24 BST on Monday, and stayed with his wife and son overnight.
Kensington Palace said in a statement: "Mother, son and father are all doing well."
The couple said: "We would like to thank the staff at the Lindo Wing and the whole hospital for the tremendous care the three of us have received.
"We know it has been a very busy period for the hospital and we would like to thank everyone - staff, patients and visitors - for their understanding during this time."
Prince William had earlier said the couple "could not be happier" following the birth of the 8lb 6oz boy.
There has been no word yet on what the couple plan to name the prince.

undreds of members of the public are gathered outside St Mary's Hospital.
And at Buckingham Palace, royal watchers and tourists are queuing in the rain to catch a glimpse of the bulletin announcing the arrival of the royal baby, which is being displayed on an easel.
The news broke about four hours after the birth and the notice is to be displayed for 24 hours, which means it is likely to be removed just after 20:00 BST.
Bandsmen of the Scots Guards outside the palace brought a celebratory feel to the proceedings ahead of the Changing of the Guard, playing a version of Cliff Richard's Eurovision song Congratulations to the crowd.
Fresh from trying to get her photo of the easel, Robyn Holtham, 41, from Oxfordshire, described the birth as fantastic news.
"The Royal Family has been becoming more accessible with Kate and William, people can identify with them. Kate is a more normal person. They're just people who like to have fun and do normal things," she said.
